PSW23 Drabble: A Shoulder to Cry OnWorldmeld:Awakening- A Shoulder to Cry OnJohnnyd2Ash and Misty had been through quite a lot lately. The two of them shared a campfire one more time before the fateful showdown that drew ever closer. Granted you could get the same kind of story from anyone from their homeworld. But these two had been through the worst of it. Misty especially……..“Ummm, Mist?” A concerned Ash inquired. Misty turned to face him. She took a heavy sigh.“Yes?” She retorted. The two then had a bit of a “Stare off” of sorts. Both of them seemed uptight, and rightfully so given the circumstances.“Fine… I’ll go first. Since this journey started. I know we’ve felt homesick a lot……” Misty stated, seemingly trying to suppress her emotions.“I get homesick a lot too. But I travelled all the time even before this trip across the multiverse. Ya get used to it ya know?” Ash chimed in. Misty then shot a glare at him.“At least you have a family and a town and a home to look forward to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Misty shouted, tearing up as she vented. Ash shuffled closer to Misty.“I FAILED at protecting my city… I FAILED at keeping the gym in check! I couldn't even help my sisters when they needed me the most…… and now two of them got kidnapped by the bloody primalists in the aftermath! Not like it makes a difference…. They would just mock me for FAILING!” The redhead sobbed. Ash gasped a bit. The group had revisited the razed Cerulean City several times. Both to reclaim it from the primal invaders and to help rebuild it. Even so, the damage to the Cerulean Gym Leader’s psyche wouldn't heal that easily… Seeing Misty continue to bawl, Ash took action and wrapped his arm on Misty’s shoulder, patting her in the process. “Misty… If it makes ya feel any better, I had to deal with failure too…” Ash consoled his travelling companion, rubbing her back.“Oh like losing the league over and over is such a big deal. Me, I don't have a mother OR father to return too! I couldn't save my city! My sisters were right. I can't handle this…..”“Its not quite like that. I mean, Alola has been like a second home to me. Kukui and Burnet… their good family figures. All the friends i made. To me, I wasn't just the champion of Alola, but I was their Light of Hope too!” Ash went on. Misty perked up a bit.“Then those Greycloak guys and their cronies took over the Aether Foundation, used it to terrorise Alola. They hurt my family too. But, I know that giving up won't just let them down, it would let myself down….” The champion started to vent too “You really think you understand me?” Misty cried before out of the blue, Ash embraced her in a tender grip. Both arms clutched around her, stifling his own tears in the process.“Of course I do! This journey has brought out a lot in us. We’ve made so many friends across the worlds. But, it just wouldn't have been the same, if you weren't there with me.” the boy spoke. The redhead then let it all out.“You really do know how to pep someone up, don't ya Ash?” She quipped, moments later she returned Ash’s embrace, not wanting to let go of one of the few people she could trust on this harsh universe spanning adventure.“Of course Misty! I'm here for ya always. You know that right?” Ash reassured his female friend. Misty nodded in response, enjoying the safety of Ash’s embrace, as did he.. The time for the final showdown to reclaim the Aether Foundation and save both Alola and the world of Pokemon as a whole was at hand. But as long as they had each other, There was nothing that could tear their bonds apart!End
